I am Ken Mata

My full name is Kenneth Poveda Mata, a long name indeed and the reason I choose to go with Ken Mata, for people to remember it!! Kematica is the company I started back in late 2004, and was built on the idea of providing my knowledge in website design, development, Illustration and graphic design to businesses in the San Francisco, Bay Area.

A little about me

I am also a husband to a wonderful woman that said yes over 20 years ago, a dad of two wonderful kids, and the butler to a 10 year old Lhasa Apso. Coffee aficionado. Music fanatic. Amateur photographer and totally in love with technology.

My wife and kids are the most important group of people in the planet. She is intelligent, creative and very, very patient (not that I drive her nuts), and the best mother for my son and daughter. Both of them are incredible individuals made of complex layers of both me and my wife, smart, loving and very respectful if I say so myself.

I take my coffee black, and love to get it at a local Redwood City roaster that I think is incredible, they also sell excellent teas!! As far as music tastes I can listen to almost anything, growing up my preference was rock n’ roll, but I can also keep up with my kids dubstep. Interesting fact, when I was 5 I asked my sister to buy me a 45 record of a song that I loved called Copa Cabana by Barry Manilow, that was the first song and 45 record I owned. In case you don’t know what a 45 record, or who is Barry Manilow contact me, I will gladly explain.

Photography to me, is an incredible vault of memories of the things we love in life. I like taking pictures of my artwork, and other life bits that I share on Instagram, if you use it look for me @kenmata. That leads the way to my geeky love of technology. I built my first computer back in 1995 with the help of a great teacher and friend. That opened the door to a world of possibilities and sparked my creative side and my eagerness to learn complex technical subjects. Around 1996 with the internet and a computer, love for graphics and web programming I opened a Geocities account and build a web page in it, later I learned to design graphics in a program called Microsoft Image Composer, that was an entry level version of a more powerful Photoshop. And the rest is history, I now use WordPress to build websites, Illustrator to create clean vector lines for my artwork, and my passion to keep learning and growing in this ever changing and challenging tech world!!

Last but not least, I truly believe that in this life we learn something new each day, just like my mom always told me. To add to that, I also learned throughout my life that we live, we learn, we have to forgive and move on.
